LCLESO Announces First Annual Gala to Honor 2022 Law Enforcement Professional-of-the-YearAlso Obtains IRS 501(c)(3) Tax Exemption and Raises $75,000 for Law Enforcement
The Lee County Law Enforcement Support Organization (LCLESO) has announced a new program which will consider individual Law Enforcement Professionals who are selected from each of several Lee County Law Enforcement agencies, and then select and honor the single “top” Law Enforcement Professional-of-the-Year for Lee County for 2022. This award ceremony will occur at the first-annual LCLESO Gala, which is now scheduled for January 21, 2023, at The Silos. More information on this new annual event will be forthcoming soon, but please mark your calendars now. With the help of LCLESO’s donors, it is expected that all front-line Lee County Law Enforcement personnel, each with their guest, will be able to attend this celebration without cost to them. LCLESO Donors will have the first opportunity to reserve their seats or tables.LCLESO has received overwhelming support from local businesses and private individuals during its first three months of existence, and last month obtained its approval from the IRS as a Section 501.c.3 tax-exempt organization. LCLESO is excited to confirm that all donations made to LCLESO during 2022 should now be tax-deductible for Federal Income Tax purposes (donations can be made at www.LCLESO.org). Founded by Lee County citizens on December 14, 2021, LCLESO has so far donated about $20,000 for a K-9 and uniforms, and is discussing with Lee County Sheriff Casey Goetz, and Giddings Police Chief Bill Weems what the next top-priority equipment and training donations from LCLESO will be. Modernizing various pieces of personal protective equipment for our Lee County front-line law enforcement Officers appears to be the next priority. As background, LCLESO currently has a Board consisting of five Directors – Jim Jaeger (Fundraising), Lisa Teinert (Secretary), Bob Thorp (Treasurer), Peter Leidel (Events & Communications), and Brian Evans (Programs). This Board currently meets bi-weekly with their two Law Enforcement Advisors, who are Chief Weems, and Sheriff Goetz, to exchange ideas and learn of their upcoming needs. Sheriff Goetz also represents the interests of, and presents the equipment and training donation requests for, all other law enforcement agencies and personnel in Lee County. Through the www.LCLESO.org website, citizens from Lee County have also shared their ideas and thoughts about areas of law enforcement which they would like to see enhanced. This feedback is shared with LCLESO’s Law Enforcement Advisors at these biweekly meetings, and actions are then considered to address this input. Strong support for LCLESO has also been provided by the Lee County Commissioners Court, and the Giddings City Council, and Mayor.LCLESO has also recently joined the Giddings Chamber of Commerce, and the Lexington Chamber of Commerce, to facilitate cooperative efforts across Lee County. LCLESO Board members are also making presentations to local civic and community associations, to ensure that the purpose of LCLESO, and benefits provided to Lee County are fully-understood.
